Technologies are injected into people’s life. Through innovations and new inventions, it continues evolving and developing as the generation does. It converts our society into a more progressive and modernized state and transforms an individual into a higher level.

At present, people are more likely innovative and creative in producing new creation of technologies to bring convenience and ease and to find information that can contribute to learning and can cater to our needs. But how can we find information that matches our needs?

Information is everywhere. You can find it in books, dictionaries, magazines or even on the internet. Most people today preferably used the internet, in just only one tap in your gadget, you can get the information easy and fast. In finding information that corresponds to my needs, I consider my interests, hobbies, and desires to make sure that information is best suited to myself. Also, I consider the information itself or the content. Can it help me or not? Lastly, I consider the websites or the publisher to identify that the information is secured, valid, and reliable. In choosing information, I always determine the sources of information and analyze and evaluate the quality of data. Then, I collect and store the data for it caters to my needs. And finally, I will apply it in an ethical, efficient and effective way.

How can you choose from the wide variety of information made available by different sources?

Finding information nowadays is mind-boggling because some of the sources today uses magnetic words to catch the reader’s attention, not considering the information itself isn’t true or reliable. As millennial, I always choose to find information on the internet as it works rapidly rather than trolling into different textbooks. From the wide variety of information made available by different sources, I always choose legitimate and credible sources for it gives assurance that the information is trusted and reliable.

Information surrounds us. Just be wise and careful!!

MEDIA IS A GIFT

MEDIAare the communication channels through which news, entertainment, education, data, or promotional messages are disseminated. It is communication outlets used to store and deliver information or data. It includes every broadcasting and narrow-casting media such as newspapers, magazines, televisions, radio, billboards, direct email, telephone, fax, and internet.

ARE YOU A MEDIA LITERATE?

MEDIA LITERACY– is the ability to comprehend and produce messages in the media. This includes all different types of media, from written articles to advertisements on the television. It encompasses the practices that allow people to access, analyze, and evaluate the many complex messages presented through the mass media.

As the generations have evolved, technologies have made it easier for people to access the media in many different ways. They depend on what they see and read on social media. They are more likely spending most of the time watching online videos, surfing on the internet, searching for information, etc. rather than interacting with their families and friends personally. They didn’t realize how much our lives revolve around the media and information that each one of them provides.

Media evolved of what people’s want to, not the media wants us. It evolved to caters to people’s needs and desires.

There are four ages of media namely: pre- industrial age, industrial age, electronic age and lastly the new (information) age.

MEDIA CONVERGENCE

MEDIA CONVERGENCE– refers to the merging of previously distinct media technologies and platforms through digitization and computer networking. It is also known as technological convergence. It is the blending of multiple media forms into one platform to deliver a dynamic experience. One of its major examples has involved the newspaper and magazine industry and to some extent book publishing. Their publish books, articles, news, etc. have seen in a single platform with multiple media forms through digitization and computer networking.

IMPORTANCE OF MEDIA

Media is very important for society since it is one of the fastest and efficient ways to receive information on various subjects. And it plays a significant role in keeping everyone updated about the various events around the world.

These are the significant reason why media is important:

  • it gives us immense knowledge and transmits information.
  • it raises our consciousness
  • it raises voice against social evils
  • it provides true pictures and lives telecast for various events
  • it can educate society

Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.

When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
